Hello, caregivers and fellow clinicians!
I don’t know about you, but amidst the chaos and change secondary to novel coronavirus, I’m finding it more challenging to ensure I provide the same types of quality therapy and learning opportunities online via telepractice as I typically do via therapy in person. And as there is no definite end in sight relative to COVID-19, I think it is important to know at least some of the best free online tools, apps, and websites out there to help with learning and teaching children.
Check out these great free resources for child learning:
Starfall consists of a website and app-based platform that provides families with varied options ranging from activities targeting the needs of those in Pre-K up to 3rd grade.
Teachers Pay Teachers provides an online marketplace that serves as a resource for educators and others relative to delivering free and paid educational resources and tools.
ABCya tries to facilitate education through games and other activities that are aimed at better engaging children ranging from Pre-K to 6th grade.
Games to Learn English intends to engage learners and allow learners to pursue English language improvement and development independently.
English for Everyone is authored by professional writers and educators and provides a plethora of worksheets related to English-language development, especially relative to honing grammar and writing abilities.
IXL strives to comprehensively address the learning needs of students across the K-12 curriculum and although their memberships are a major aspect of the website, one can still use its online learning tools free of charge.
Khan Academy also strives to address the entirety of the K-12 curriculum but also boasts its aspiration to provide everyone worldwide with free, quality education.
The Game Gal provides you with myriad options relative to games and activities at no cost.
Social Thinking strives to help people better understand themselves as well as others through various learning tools including free online storybook readings.
KIZCLUB provides tons of free learning resources including flashcards, worksheets, and other additional printable tools.
Why do these resources matter? I want people to know that there are resources out there at no cost that may be helpful relative to developing and fostering various social and academic skills. It’s important to be active and engaged in the learning process. So, if you have read this far, I encourage you to pick at least one of these resources recommended and give it a try.
